A sign that the current Philippine Basketball Team is in good shape, the team lost to the mighty Chinese team only by three points, 77-74, on the second day of the 4-Nation Invitational at the Araneta Coliseum.
Philippine Team Coach Chot Reyes is in fact happy with the loss.
“I am very happy with the result. I think we were just not ready to win a game against China yet.”
One of the players to watch out for in the China team is Bo Wang who scored 15, hitting a crucial triple from deep left flank that put the Chinese back in the game, 73-74 with 84 seconds left.
China has 6-foot-11 beanpole Yi Li, who scored a layup over DonDon Hontiveros with 55 seconds left. Thereafter, the Filipinos failed to score and let the game slip away in the dying seconds.
But Chot Reyes said he felt they won the game:
“I think we all know that we won this game.”
Reports however said that the Chinese team that’s now playing in Manila is actually China’s “B” Team, which means they are not yet China’s top guns.
